All set for Kahimunan Festival 2012, organizers sayby Robert E. Roperos
BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 13 (PIA) – Organizers of Barangay Libertad’s Kahimunan Festival said the staging of this year’s grandest street dancing competition in the city on Sunday, Jan. 15, is all set as local contingents have prepared breath taking performances that will entertain not only local residents but also visitors.
According to Barangay Captain Vincent Rizal Rosario, five local contingents will vie for the championship title in the Grand Kahimunan Streetdancing Competition which is considered the highlight of the festival.
The five contingents are Barangay Libertad Women’s Group, Libertad National High School, Libertad Central Elementary School, Sta. Cruz Chapel and the Purok 3-A dancers.
Rosario added aside from the Grand Kahimunan streetdancing, the children’s Kahimunan will also be held.
The official also said that the festival’s Executive Committee members have agreed to invite members of the board of judges composed of choreographers the neighboring provinces and from this city who are not residents of Barangay Libertad. He added that this is to ensure a fair result.
Brgy. Capt. Rosario stressed that this year’s preparation is the same with the previous years and the only difference is that contingents of this year’s festival is exclusive to Barangay Libertad residents and organizations.
Aside from this, the official said four wide screens will be placed in strategic locations inside the Libertad Sports Complex where the final showdown will be conducted. “This can also be viewed through Internet live streaming,” Rosario said.
With this, the official urged the people here to inform their relatives and friends abroad of this development so that they may be able to witness Butuan City’s local version of Sinulog Festival.
Meanwhile, the Search for 2012 Mutya Hong Libertad will culminate this evening in the Grand Coronation Night at the Libertad Covered Court here, while the Libertad Singing Idol Season 2 contestants will take center stage tomorrow evening in the said venue.
Kahimunan Festival is held every third Sunday of January in time with the annual fiesta celebration of Senior Santo Niño, the patron saint of Barangay Libertad, this city. (PIA-Caraga)
