PNP-SoLeyte joins “Takbong Maharlika, Tungo sa Pagkakaisa” run

by R.G. Cadavos

SOUTHERN LEYTE, Jan 14 (PIA) -– The Philippine National Police – Bontoc Police Station participated in the “Takbong Maharlika, Tungo sa Pagkakaisa run, after holding its the 14th leg in Tacloban City, Police Community Relations Chief Abdulmajid B. Jaji reported.

“Bontoc PNP personnel was headed by P/Insp Richel J. Collado together with the guests and participants of the run at about 4:00 in the morning of January 10, 2012,” Jaji said.

The run, which started at barangay Kahupian II going to barangay Olisihan, was part of the PNP Integrated Transformation Program, a roadmap for a long term and lasting reforms of the PNP.

The PNP runners from the Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO) and the Bontoc Municipal Police Station personnel performed the running at the Maharlika Highway, and was followed by a transformation symposium held at the Immaculate Concepcion Parish Church in Sogod town.

Jaji added that the “Takbong Maharlika” was followed by a prepared boddle fight with the men and women of the PNP as participants.

The “Takbong Maharlika, Tungo sa Pagkakaisa” is aimed to encourage and urge PNP personnel and citizens in the locality to take on the fitness project and bring about a national culture of fitness, leading to the vision of a healthier and happier Philippines.

The run started on August 8, 2011 in Ilocos Norte and is expected to end in Zamboanga City, covering more than 2,500 kilometers of the Maharlika Highway (AH26) in a daily run of the seven months challenge. (RGC/PIA-SoLeyte)
