PNRC-Mt. Province recognizes partners, volunteers

BONTOC, Mt. Province, Jan.14 (PIA) -- The Philippine National Red Cross – Mt. Province Chapter (PNRC) has awarded local officials, volunteers, schools and institutions for their full support as partners in the implementation of the Red Cross programs and activities in the province.

Awarded plaques of recognition were Governor Leonard Mayaen and municipal mayors Pascual Sacgaca of Bontoc, Wellington Pooten of Besao, Simon Lacwasan of Bauko, Gabino Ganggangan of Sadanga, and Edwardo Latawan of Sagada.

Plaques of Appreciation were also awarded to 10 most outstanding Board of Directors of Red Cross Mt. Province chapter: Consuelo Alaestante, Isabel Abad, Asuncion Diaz, Felicidad Bimmuyag, Rose Bandonil, Erlinda Ayochok, Narcisa Serrano, Darwin Philip Alera, Alfredo Tangkiao Jr., and Leo Parado.

The Red Cross in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) also organized Red Cross Youth in some schools who were trained to assist the implementation of the Red Cross activities and services.

The Red Cross also awarded plaques to 10 outstanding Red Cross youth namely: Mark John Lozano, Roldan Kinfawan, Marisol Apling, Jane Lawagan, Michael Dave Bangwa, Nicole Bryle Gut-omen, Harry Tarewan, Robert Wanasen, Jerry Warsiyen, and Eliazar Mi-ing.

Special citation was also given to St. Vincent’s High School, Tocucan National High School, ALBAGO National High School, Mt. Province State Polytechnic College-Reserve Officers Training Corps (MPSPC-ROTC) all of Bontoc, and Namatec National High School and Pingad National High School, both of Sabangan.

PNRC- Mt. Province Administrator Marcelliuz Diaz said these schools have organized Red Cross Youth as per DepEd Memorandum No. 102, s. 2011 which requires the establishment of the Red Cross Youth Councils and training of teachers in the different Red Cross services.

Others who were given special citations include Col. Steve Crespillo, Col. Joel Campilis, Sgt. Leo Parado, Capt. Victor Leopoldo, 2Lt. Eric Noguera, Irene Baltan, Ruby Culos, Florence Paspas, Donna Balio and this writer for their active participation and for providing technical assistance in the implementation of Red Cross activities.(JDP/JBS-PIA CAR,Mt.
