Nueva Vizcaya exec grateful over P10M LGSF aidby Ben Moses Ebreo
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Jan. 15 (PIA) -- Provincial officials have praised the granting of Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) to the province by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The DILG announced that the provincial government has been qualified to receive P10 million LGSF along with its 15 Local Government Units based on their municipality class.
We are very grateful for this aid and we hope to get more from other agencies in order to sufficiently fund other projects that will have an impact on the lives of Novo Vizcayanos, Gambito said.
The granting of the LGSF assistance, Gambito added, will help in the provincial government in cushioning the impact of the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) cut in the province.
He estimated the IRA reduction in the province at close to P200 million which drastically affected the usual implementation of projects, programs and activities anchored on the various development thrusts of the provincial government.
Aside from the provincial government, the 15 LGUs were also tagged as qualified to receive a share from the LGSF. These are: Ambaguio P.6 million, Aritao P1 million, Bagabag P.9 million, Bambang P1 million, Bayombong P1 million, Diadi - .7 million, Dupax del Norte P 1 million, Dupax del Sur P 1 million, Kasibu P 1 million, Kayapa P1 million, Quezon P .7 million, Sta. Fe P .9 million, Solano P 1 million, Villaverde P .5 million and Alfonso Castaneda P .8 million.
The LGSF, in support of the Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) program of the DILG for the LGUs, is in line with the Departments commitment to aggressively scale up interventions to elevate the practice of governance that values transparency, accountability, participation and performance into an institutionalized status.
It aims to recognize LGUs with good governance performance in internal housekeeping particularly on four areas, namely good planning, sound fiscal management, transparency and accountability and valuing of performance monitoring.
LGUs with the SGH will be qualified for the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) for Local Governments Units being handled by the Bureau of Local Government Development. (TCB/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
