LGU Cagayan complies with full disclosure policy - DILGby Thelma C.Bicarme and Edcielyn E. Jose
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Jan.15 (PIA) — The provincial office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government here has declared a 100 percent compliance on the Full Disclosure Policy among the 28 municipalities and one city of Cagayan.
Provincial Director Cora Toribio said the 28 municipalities and one city also passed the standards of the Seal of Housekeeping (SGH) making Cagayan province a grand slam winner last year under the Regional Incentives for Productivity Enhancement (RIPE) program of DILG region 2.
FDP and SGH are two of the DILG’s program under the leadership of Sec. Jesse Robredo aimed at promoting effective governance in local government by minimizing corruption and fund misuse and through honest and orderly management of public funds.
Under the FDP program, all officials of provinces, municipalities and cities are required to fully disclose particular financial transactions of the LGU to keep their constituents informed of how the budget is managed, disbursed and used.
The Seal of Good Housekeeping, on the other hand, is a mechanism comprising a set of criteria aimed at recognizing Local government Units (LGUs) with good performance in internal housekeeping particularly in the areas of Planning, Sound Fiscal Management, Transparency and Accountability, and Valuing Performance Management.
Among the key components of the SGH criteria are compliance to the mandates of the Anti-Red Tape Act as well as to the Full Disclosure Policy of the DILG. (TCB/EEJ/PIA 2)
