Version 2 of Barangay week in Balanga to be implemented this yearby Joelyn G. Baluyut
BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Jan. 15 (PIA) -- A new version of “Barangay Week” in this city will be implemented this year to bring down the basic city services to barangay level.
Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III explained, “the new version will solely be initiated by the barangay chiefs and thus implement their own set of programs for the benefit of their respective barangays.”
“This preparation is in line with the existing Performance Governance System (PGS) workshop for the barangay officials that aims to provide leverage to each barangay so that their mission, vision and goals will be achieved,” the mayor added.
The Barangay Week offers medical missions, skills and livelihood training in Agriculture, Cooperative Development, Management Information Services office, mobile registration and marriage bonding in barangay level in Local Civil Registry, barangay officials and sectoral consultation of Social Welfare and Development, Accounting, Budget, Assessor, Engineering, Planning and Development Office.
Dubbed “Barangayan,” the event is held twice a month that seeks to deliver the basic city services to barangay level and to coordinate and discuss various issues and concerns of the different barangays.
This program envisions providing the tools necessary for the individual development of each Barangay, along with the extension of primary health care, technical and social welfare assistance and all other services provided by this City Government.
Garcia emphasized, "Barangayan makes the city officials and city government within the immediate reach of most of its constituents." (WLB/JGB- PIA 3)
