PIA Press Release Monday, January 16, 2012 Taytay airport rehab now possiblePUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, Jan. 16 (PIA) -- Rehabilitation and improvement of the Taytay-Sandoval airport, also known as Cesar L. Rodriguez Airport, is made possible with the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the provincial government and the Taytay Airport Development Corporation (TADC) for the conduct of a feasibility study. TADC is being commissioned by the provincial government to do the feasibility study which costs P15 million. The study is expected to be completed in a year’s time. The rehabilitation of the airport which would cost some Ph1.2 billion, is necessary to meet safety standards, accommodate increase in tourist arrivals, and allow commercial airlines to resume their operation. It is one of the projects showcased in last year’s Luzon Investment Conference. Taytay-Sandoval, the only provincial airport, is located about 210 kms. north of Puerto Princesa. The airport is of major economic importance because it provides access to the tourism hub in the northern Palawan area particularly in Taytay and El Nido. (VSM/PIA-Palawan) |
