City dad takes Kahimunan Festival’s success a challenge to his adminby Robert E. Roperos
BUTUAN CITY, Jan. 16 (PIA) –- Mayor Ferdinand Amante said the success of the Kahimunan Festival 2012 has challenged his administration because of the coordination of the organizers, barangay and church officials of Barangay Libertad.
In an interview with a local radio here, Amante said the activity is well-coordinated despite financial constraints.
He added the scorching heat of the sun and the sudden heavy downpour did not stop the devotees of the holy child Santo Niño from going to Libertad Shrine to celebrate and attend mass.
“I would like to congratulate the organizers headed by Bishop Zacharias Jimenez and Barangay Captain Vincent Rizal Rosario for the successful conduct of Kahimunan Festival 2012 and I would also like to commend all the men and women behind the success of this activity,” Amante said.
The official said this is a challenge to his administration considering the city of Butuan will be celebrating the month-long Balangay Festival on May.
He stressed with his experience in Kahimunan Festival 2012, this will serve as an inspiration to all the officials and stakeholders in making Balangay Festival as successful as that of Kahimunan Festival.
Meanwhile, Amante is also grateful for the peaceful conduct of the whole day activity, and vowed that he will continue to give his full support to Kahimunan Festival in the years to come.
“I will continue to support the organizers and parishioners of Senior Santo Niño especially in the conduct of Kahimunan Festival next year,” Amante said. (PIA-Caraga)
