PIA Press Release Monday, January 16, 2012 Ifugao implements financial assistance to deceased, injured barangay officials, workersby Mhars B LihgawonLAGAWE, Ifugao Jan. 16 (PIA) -- The provincial government has started the full implementation of the financial assistance program to barangay officials and workers who were injured or lost their lives while performing their mandates. An amount of P100,000 was appropriated in the annual budget of the province for the Provincial Financial Assistance Program for Barangay Officials and Workers (PFAP – BOW). The financial assistance program was stipulated in the provincial ordinance intended to financially assist barangay officials and workers who lost their lives or were injured while performing their duties. For death and injury, barangay officials are entitled to receive P10,000 and P5,000 respectively. For barangay workers, P5,000 assistance for death and P2,500 for injury. The documentary requirements of claiming the assistance for death category include the death certificate from the Office of the Civil Registrar; oath of office for elective position or appointment paper for appointed position; certificate of incumbency from the municipal office of the Department of Interior and Local Government. To ensure the legitimacy of the claim, the provincial president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) shall endorse the certification of the ABC municipal president with attached marriage contract if claimant is the spouse or birth certificate if claimant is the child. The requirements for injury are similar to the death category however, instead of death certificate it should be medical certificate.
