PESO-Ifugao holds year-end assessment, planning

by Dan B. Codamon

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan. 16(PIA) -- The eleven Public Employment Services Offices (PESO) of this province recently held their Year-End Performance Assessment (YEPA) meeting with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Office here in preparation for the upcoming Regional PESO YEPA in Baguio City on January 24 and 25.

Senior Labor and Employment Officer Isabelita Codamon said the activity is a venue where the PESOs can share and learn practices and experiences in effectively facilitating employment in the province. Moreover, it will serve as a forum where the PESOs can come up with their plans and strategies to improve their program service delivery for 2012.

It is necessary that the guidelines and details of the program this year be thoroughly discussed during the Regional YEPA to solicit participation among interested stakeholders because the budget this year is much bigger, she related.

The assessed 2011 accomplishment of the PESOs were focused on its four core functions which are employment facilitation, labor market analysis, career coaching and implementation of other programs such as the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), Emergency Employment Program, PhilJobnet, Skills Registry System and Community Enterprise Development.

Codamon expressed appreciation to the reports of the PESO Officers and told them that they are doing a lot of their core works, however, some were not properly documented and submitted to the DOLE office.

The participants also consolidated their 2011 accomplishments, 2012 Plan of Action and Calendar of Activities, Training Needs for DOLE to respond to improve their capabilities and the identification of the three best PESO of Ifugao for nomination to the Annual Search for the Best Peso.

The three identified best PESOs of Ifugao are Alfonso Lista, Mayoyao and the provincial government.(DBC/PIA-Ifugao)
