2 Nueva Vizcaya groups get financial aid from DOLEby Ben Moses Ebreo
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, January 16 (PIA) -- Two livelihood organizations here recently got funding assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment(DOLE) to jumpstart their business ventures.
DOLE regional director Grace Ursua, along with other regional officials led the turn-over of the P.5 million livelihood checks to the Nueva Vizcaya Institute Employees Association(NVIEA) based in Aritao town and the Solano Municipal Association of Persons with Disability (SMAPD) based in Solano town.
The turn-over of checks was witnessed by Solano mayor Philip Dacayo, Aritao mayor Guillermo Peros, assistant director Elpidio Atal, provincial director Henry Balangatan and the members of the two organizations.
“We encourage you to use this immediately, wisely and for the good of the organization because not all sectors in this province can have funds like this. It is therefore inherent upon you to protect and use it for the benefit of all the members,” Ursua said.
She also challenged the beneficiaries to develop and improve their livelihood projects in order to avail more funds from the agency.
NVIEA received P300,000.00 while the SMAPD was given P200,000.00 to fund their rice trading, wholesaling and retailing business and canteen management venture respectively.
The funding assistance which is part of the more than P2 million livelihood fund distributed to various organizations in the province last year will benefit 49 members of both the NVIEA and SMAPD, according to DOLE officials.
Aritao mayor Peros also praised the DOLE for their yearly assistance to local livelihood organizations in his municipality.
“We are very thankful for this assistance because it will really help the members and their families in uplifting their status in our community,” he said. (TCB/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
