DILG monitors local government’s utilization of PCF

by Thelma C. Bicarme

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Jan. 17 (PIA) -- Department of the Interior and Local Government(DILG)-Cagayan provincial director Cora Toribio said they are strictly monitoring how the local government units utilize the P 1 million Performance Challenge Fund which they received from DILG for complying with the full disclosure policy and Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH).

Toribio said eight LGUs namely, Camalaniugan, Sta. Teresita, Pamplona, Sta Praxedes, Iguig, Rizal and Piat, all 4th to 6th class municipalities, received P1 million each as PCF last year.

The provincial director said the 2011 PCF prioritized the LGUs from 4th to 6th municipalities to help them improve their services to the public.

Aside from the P1 million PCF, almost all the municipalities of Cagayan also received funds from the local government support fund or LGSF last year for passing the Seal of Good Housekeeping.

Toribio said that Tuguegarao City, Baggao and Penablanca got the biggest funding of almost P2 million as they are considered big LGUs while Sta Praxedes, a small LGU, got the lowest with P400,000.

The said funds will be used by the LGUs in development projects such as rural electrification, farm-to-market roads and other projects that can improve the lives of the residents. (TCB/PIA 2)
