PIA Press Release Tuesday, January 17, 2012 DENR offices to lead “No Plastic, No Styrofor” practicesby Alice Nicart BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, Jan 17 (PIA) -- In order to help government in its campaign to slow down the effect of climate change, all provincial and municipal offices of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) are ordered, immediately, to follow its directive, not to use plastic food containers and Styrofors anymore. This was reported by DENR Regional Information Officer Purificacion Daloos in the weekly “Harampang” program of Philippine Information Agency (PIA)8, Tacloban, Leyte. Daloos said that this is the stern order to them which is a “must,” to be followed even by the security guards. “DENR security guards are directed to closely watch all foods being brought to their respective PENROS and CENROS -foods should not be placed in plastic or styrofor containers,” the DENR info officer said. In addition, she also said that DENR canteens have also been instructed not to use these materials and employees are encouraged to bring food in environment-friendly containers.
