She bared that Daisy Revillame of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) advised the project contractors to start the projects immediately to comply with the period for its completion which is 140 calendar days for the Anao CIS and 150 days for the Umalbong CIS.

Revillame also required the contractors to prepare and submit a catch up on the implementation schedule as the Anao CIS is expected to be finished on April 11, 2012 while the Umalbong CIS should be completed by April 21, 2012.

The said projects will irrigate at least 75 hectares of terraced rice fields and gardens and will benefit 76 farmers of Anao and 69 for Umalbong.

Meanwhile, Maria Cristina Dagdag of the Central Project Management Office of ARISP reminded all the stakeholders and concerned agencies of their respective roles in the projects and that proper coordination should be done to ensure their timely and proper implementation.

Mayor Mario Buyuccan made the assurance in behalf of the community and urged all the barangay officials and irrigation associations to work together so that the project will be finished on time.

Revillame also informed the local government unit and the beneficiaries present that their proposal for the construction of another irrigation system at Barangay Puntaguan which is the LGUs equity can be proposed under the regular fund of NIA. She promised to work for its accommodation in their regular work plan to assure its funding.

Also present during the meeting were irrigation association officers and members, Hingyon officials, NIA and DAR representatives and the provincial officials led by Governor Eugene Balitang. (JDP/DBC-PIA, Ifugao)
