Heightened anti-illegal drug operation nets three suspects in East Samarby Neil D. Lopido
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Jan 17 (PIA) -– In line with the intensified anti-drugs campaign of the PNP, the joint elements of Eastern Samar police provincial office and Borongan city police station arrested three suspected drug traffickers at 2:00 p.m. of January 15 at the main gate of Eastern Samar State University.
In a press release, police senior Superintendent Manuel E. Cubillo identified the suspects as Efren Baquilod of Brgy. Omawas, Maydolong, Eastern Samar; Michael Cultura Anire of Brgy. Alangalang, Borongan City; and Lionel Oreta Norombaba of Borongan City.
The three were arrested by the anti-illegal drugs special operation task force through a tip from a concerned citizen who said suspects were transporting dangerous drugs known as shabu.
Seized from from the suspects were two pieces of big transparent cellophanes filled with suspected shabu approximately weighing six grams each; one unit TMX Honda motorcycle with no plate number; one piece empty tortillos pouch; one piece big carton box containing assorted junk foods; and one unit XRM Honda without plate number.
The suspects were immediately brought to Brgy. Maypangdan Hall for inventory and record purposes then to Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office for further documentation.
ESPPO is now preparing a criminal case against the suspects for violation of Republic Act 9165, Section 5 of Article II on the transportation of dangerous drugs. (PIA-8/ESPPO)
