SSS launches Member-Get-Member promo for OFWs

QUEZON CITY, Jan. 17, (PIA) -- The Social Security System has launched a program to encourage overseas Filipino workers (OFW) to become members.

Under the program dubbed “Sa SSS: Kasamahang OFW ay Protektado, Meron Pang Pa-premyo,” an active OFW SSS member may nominate an OFW to join and pay monthly contributions to the SSS. Inactive SSS members among OFWs may be also be nominated.

A nominator must have an SSS contribution in the last three (3) months while a nominee should be a new SSS member or does not have any contribution for the year 2011.

At present, there are 800,000 OFW voluntary members of the SSS, according to SSS OFW Management Department Head Joy Villacorta.

To register in the promo, the OFW SSS member can personally go & fill-out a registration form in any SSS foreign office worldwide starting January 15, 2012.

Villacorta said the SSS has branches in Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei, Brunei and Shanghai); Middle East (Riyadh, Jeddah & Alkhobar in Saudi Arabia, Doha in Qatar and Kuwait); and Europe (Rome and Milan in Italy and London in United Kingdom).

For those working in countries which do not have an SSS branch, they may download forms and register in the SSS website www.sss.gov.ph. The registration is free.

There will be a raffle draw every month from January to June 2012. A total of nine (9) nominators can win P10,000.00 per raffle month. And on September 7, 2012 a grand raffle draw will be held. Prizes will be as follows:

1st Prize: Travel Package for One Winner with a round trip ticket from foreign post to Manila and a trip to Boracay for two with accommodation and P45,000 poket money.

2nd prize : P30,000 (Two winners)

3rd prize: P20,000 (Three winners)

Consolation Prizes: P10,000 (Ten winners)

Special Award: P50,000 plus a Plaque of Appreciation for “Nominator” with the most number of “Nominees”
