PIA Press Release Tuesday, January 17, 2012 P200k, big prizes at stake in E-trike design tiltQUEZON CITY, January 17 (PIA) -- Love drawing or designing and want to use it as a tool to save the environment and at the same time, win cash? Then, join the Best Philippine E-trike Design contest with the theme “Bright Now! Do Right. Be Bright. Go E-trike!” Organized by the Department of Energy (DOE) – Energy Utilization Management Bureau (EUMB), it aims to show the best aesthetic and functional design and showcase modern tricycle innovation for the future look of the Philippine E-Trike. The contest is open to all Filipino citizens, 18 years old and above and residing in the country. Entries can be made by group or by individual. Interested participants should fill-up completely the Official Registration Form which can be downloaded at the www.doe.gov.ph or at PIA website, www.pia.gov.ph. Employees of DOE, screening and the judging committee and their relatives up to the 2nd degree are not allowed to join the contest. Since the winning entries might possibly be used for the future E-trike, DOE set such parameters as, maximum of six passengers excluding the driver, must be a three-wheeled electric vehicle and sample E-trikes can be viewed at the DOE website. Design entries should be submitted to DOE-EUMB on/ or before 4 p.m. on February 17 together with the completely filled-up registration form and a duly notarized Oath of Ownership. A participant must submit only one entry in a 2D and a 3D drawing of his design using AutoCad software with a corresponding design description. The designs should be submitted in a CD format and A3 size hardcopy sealed in an envelope. All designs should be new and original and have not been used in any commercial or demonstration purposes. Final judging of entries will be on February 24 at the Energy Center in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. The top three winning entries will receive P200,000 and will be acknowledged at the DOE official website and will be considered for the possible design of the E-trikes. Seven consolation prizes worth P50,000 each are also at stake. Design entries will be judged according to aesthetics/creativity, originality/innovation, ergonomics (ease of passenger entry – accessibility, space requirements, total passenger comfort), safety and functionality. The top 10 winners will be notified either through telephone , email or registered mail and are required to attend the awarding ceremony.
