Aurora to celebrate its 33rd founding anniversary in Februaryby Jojo S. Libranda
BALER, Aurora, Jan. 18 (PIA) -- Aurora province will be celebrating its 33rd Foundation Anniversary as an independent province, separate and distinct from the province of Quezon from Feb. 9 to 19, 2012.
The weeklong celebration will be highlighted by the commemoration of the 124th Birth Anniversary of Doña Aurora Aragon-Quezon, the wife of the first and only Commonwealth President Manuel Luis Quezon.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Best of Aurora’s Culture… Our Pride! Our Legacy!” It focuses on promoting the cultural heritage that depicts the natural environment, man-made artifacts and cultural attributes of the province that every present generation Auroran can have sense of pride, uniqueness and identity.
The provincial government has planned a lineup of schedule for the whole month of February for the celebration. The Aurora Surfing Challenge will be on Feb. 9 to 12. Takbo para kay Doña Aurora is set on Feb. 12. Grand Opening, motorcade, tourism and trade fair are set on Feb. 13. There will be a Valentine show on Feb. 14. The drum and lyre Competition and Tuklas Talino are scheduled the next day, Feb. 15. The street dancing competition is on Feb. 16 and the Search for Binibining Aurora 2012 is on Feb. 17. The Airsoft Competition and People’s Party are set on Feb. 18 while the Dayana para kay Doña Aurora, liturgical celebration, parade and the anniversary program will happen on Feb. 19.
