PIA Press Release Wednesday, January 18, 2012 DPWH 8 bares accomplishments for 2011TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Jan 18 (PIA) –- The Department of Public Works and Highways in Eastern Visayas disclosed its accomplishments for 2011, under the leadership of regional director Rolando M. Asis. Last year, the DPWH was able to complete 520 out of the 715 projects it was tasked to implement in 2011 with a corresponding allotment of P3,611,179,000. Out of the 5,573 carry-over projects from CY 2010, the region was able to achieve 98.75 percent accomplishment having completed 5,549 projects; 12 projects are still ongoing and 12 were not started at all. DPWH Region 8 was able to finish all the 140 projects worth P1.8 billion in 2011. The DPWH Region 8 ranked number one from January to August 2011, in terms of project implementation. When the DBM released a huge amount of additional releases during the last quarter of 2011, the regional office ranking slipped to the sixth place from September to December. Said ranking is still commendable considering the big amount was released only on the last quarter. The DPWH in Eastern Visayas is the only region in the country with additional funds higher than the regular budget. The DPWH in Eastern Visayas in 2011, was a model of judicious spending until the third quarter of 2011 as the agency moved for quality spending and realignments. It generated a total of P 670,474.78 million savings from 140 projects that were bid out. This feat is attributed to the strict implementation of “open competitive bidding and transparency.” (PIA 8) |
