Police entrance, promotion exams set on April 29

by Jell E. Guzman

QUEZON CITY, Jan. 18 (PIA) -– Applicants for police entrance and promotion exams should get ready as early as this month as the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) set the entrance exam on April 29, 2012.

According to NAPOLCOM, the PNP entrance exams is open to civilians who are holding a bachelor’s degree, under 30 years old, and at least 1.62 meters in height for male and 1.57 meters for female.

Early this week, NAPOLCOM launched its On-Line Examination Application Scheduling System (OLEASS).

NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Eduardo U. Escueta explained that the innovative system is the answer to the bureau’s perennial problem.

“The system is designed to help eliminate long queues formed with the old-walk-in system,” said Escueta.

Last August 2011, hundreds of police personnel and applicants went to the NAPOLCOM office in Makati City to secure an application.

All application forms will be made available online at the NAPOLCOM website (www.napolcom.gov.ph) from February 1 to 13, 2012.

Filing of applications will start on February 14 until March 16, 2012.

Applicants are advised to secure online appointment first before going to any NAPOLCOM Regional Office during the confirmed scheduled appointment.

For civilian applicants with confirmed scheduled appointment must bring the following: (a) one legal size window envelope; (b) one mailing stamp worth P9 for applicants from NCR, CAR, Regions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and P12 for Visayas and Mindanao, Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Palawan and Masbate; (c) transcript of scholastic records or diploma; and (d) birth certificate.

Meanwhile, PNP personnel set to take promotional examinations should be reminded of the following: the name tag should indicate first the rank followed by the first name, middle and last names.

Personnel with temporary appointment should also submit a certified true copy of Attested Appointment, Plantilla Appointment or Special Order.

Applicants are advised to comply with the above-mentioned requirements along with a Report of Rating/Certification issued by the NAPOLCOM Central Office, CSC Certified Copy of Eligibility and/or PRC Board Certificate.

Meanwhile, Escueta said the coverage for the PNP entrance tests include general information, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and logical reasoning.

The promotional exam includes general information, police administration, police operations and police values, as well as ethical standards.

Examination fee is at P400 for the Police Officer Exam , P450 for the Senior Police Officer Exam, P500 for the Police Inspector Exam, and P600 for the Police Superintendent Exam.

Successful examinees will be conferred with the PNP Entrance Eligibility which is appropriate for the appointment of Police Officer 1 rank.

Passers of the promotional exams shall be conferred the eligibility appropriate for promotion corresponding to the Eligibility Rank Coverage. (NAPOLCOM/RJB/JEG-PIA-NCR)
