PHIVOLCS allays Boronganons fears vs. alleged tsunami alertby Alice Nicart
BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, Jan 18 (PIA) -- PHIVOLCS, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) here, allayed the fears of the public regarding a rumored, “Tsunami that was to follow” the 5.9 tremor that shook Eastern Samar province at about 8:55 last night.
To calm down the public as a result of the text message that suddenly spread this morning about an, “ impending upsurge of sea level,” Dr. Perry Balase of the provincial governor’s office announced on air over Radyo Natin DYES, that there was no such thing as Tsunami alert, because they themselves did not receive any.
“Please do not panic regarding that Tsunami alert, because we did not receive any of that message from the proper authorities,” the senior staff from the governor's office averred on air.
According to him no damage report had been said but advised the public to remain vigilant and always prepare for any natural eventuality.(PIA-Eastern Samar/aenicart)
