PIA Press Release Wednesday, January 18, 2012 Gov. Uy commends quick action from Phil. Army in Mawab attackCOMPOSTELA VALLEY, Jan. 18 (PIA) -- It was a quick response and thinking from the military that resulted to zero casualty from the Philippine Army in an afternoon encounter with rebel groups in Mawab last Jan. 16. For this, Compostela Valley Governor Arturo Uy commends the strategic defense of the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in overcoming the attack especially on its intensified intelligence campaign. According to reports, a tipster alerted the military of the presence of an armed group in the area. Gov. Uy said the incident should be a lesson to be always on guard and take precautionary measures. “For their successful maneuver in the conduct of defense and counter attack to the undetermined number of enemy forces in Mawab last Monday afternoon, I commended the Philippine Army for their bravery and demonstrating a very good skill in combat operation,” he said. “This shows that their intelligence networks are really working,” the governor added. This as it enjoys a relatively peaceful province but he continues to emphasize that the military is only one part of the equation. “The other one is our people themselves. When government and people work together, it can be a powerful force to attain the peace and security,” Gov. Uy said. (IDS-Comval) |
