LGUs get boost with the Seal of Good Housekeeping Award

by Lizel S. Macatangay

NAGA CITY, Jan 18 (PIA) -- More and more local government units are looking forward to the chance to be given the Seal of Good Housekeeping Award bestowed by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

For one, the municipality of Camaligan under the headship of Emmanuel “Emman” Trinidad Prado, has started to implement various programs following the mandate of President Benigno Aquino for a transparent leadership. Most of these programs are in line with the objective of the Aquino government like the provision of decent dwelling to the homeless.

Prado, pursuant to this, spearheaded the construction of 20 units of core shelters. Camaligan is the sole municipality in Camarines Sur awarded as first round passer in the search of municipalities with exemplary performance in internal housekeeping. This hallmark, he said, will serve as their guiding principle in pursuing more projects.

Second round passers include the municipalities of Canaman, Gainza, And San Fernando.

Fifteen municipalities, inspired by the incentives and various benefits, continue to serve under the direction of PNoy’s “Matuwid na Daan.” This includes the municipalities of Baao, Bombon, Calabanga, Del Gallego, Goa, Libmanan, Magarao, Milaor, Nabua, Pili, Ragay, San Jose , Tigaon, and the cities of Naga and Iriga. The abovementioned LGUs are all third round passers and recipients of the Seal of Good Governance.

DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, in his accomplishment report, disclosed that a total of 1,325 local government units were conferred with the Seal of Good Housekeeping in 2011, citing among others their strong adherence to upright management and honest spending of the people’s money.(LSM, PIA-Camarines Sur)
