All LGUs in Central Luzon practice good governanceCITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Jan. 20 (PIA) -- All the 137 towns and cities of Central Luzon received the Seal of Good Housekeeping, an annual recognition award given by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Central Luzon is one of the three regions in the country where 100 percent of their local government units (LGUs) have fully complied with the requirements of sound fiscal management, transparency, accountability and performance audit. The others are Region 11 (Southern Mindanao) with 52 LGUs and Region 12 (Central Mindanao) with 53 LGUs.
In the first round of the challenge which was from January to June 2011, 19 fourth to sixth class municipalities in the region received the award. In the second round of the validation, from July to September, 81 towns and cities were recipients and in the final round, from November to December, another 37 got the award.
All the 19 awardees of the first batch received P 1 million each from the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) which they used to finance economic development projects in their areas.
The other awardees will be prioritized in the granting of the P750 million 2012 PCF which will be distributed in all the regions. (WLB/RGSD- PIA 3)
