PIA Press Release Friday, January 20, 2012 HRM students participate in Dasma flair tending challengeDASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite, Jan. 20 (PIA) -- Hundreds of viewers watched the recent 2nd Mayor Jenny Austria Barzaga’s Flair Tending Challenge competition held at the Robinson’s Place Activity Center with the title; “Flair-O Caviteño” – Flair tending Challenge the Champion.Students from several colleges and universities in the city participated in this yearly competition to develop their skills as a flairist and give them the opportunity to discover by several bar, hotel owners or even for hosting a party or occasions as part of their future employment. According to Mayor Barzaga, this competition is a yearly undertaking by the city government through Livelihood and Micro Enterprise Development Office headed by Rene R. Broqueza. Barzaga explained that a Hotel and Restaurant Management student who has a talent on the art of flair tending were given the chance to display their skills and gain self-confidence when applying in several companies specifically in bars, hotel chains or even for a flair exhibition on parties and other occasions. “Sa pagiging bihasa ng isang flairist, ay magkakatoon siya ng tiwala sa kanyang sarili upang matanggap sa ina-aplayang bar, hotel o kaya naman ay pagkakakitaan sa pamamagitan ng pagpapaflair exhibition sa isang party o okasyon,” Mayor Barzaga said. At the final rounds of the competition, students from the Philippine Christian University (PCU), Brookfield College (BC) and the National College of Science and Technology (NCST) are hustling for the championship trophy. Fernando“Peejay” Patawaran and Prince Axl Gabriel of BC won the championship trophy for the tandem division and the NCST settled for the first runner-up on the same category. On the singles lady category, Julie May Baticos of PCU won the championship and Windecilia Mae Lim and Macy Joy Villanueva settled for the first and second runner-up respectively.
