Potable water project implemented in Basco townBASCO, Batanes, January 22 (PIA) -- With the implementation of the water supply project funded by Cong. Henedina R. Abad at Sitio Chavuan of barangay San Antonio here, residents would no longer have to worry about hauling water daily from the town proper.
One resident, Pedro Addatu, said the Congressional District Office acted on their problem second week of January this year and installation of pipes from Brgy. San Antonio is now going on.
When completed, Addatu said some 10 families of Sitio Chavuan will be benefited. “For one year, we have suffered from the hardship of transporting water using our bicycles, motorcycles and sidecars to our place,” he added.
The residents’ problem on water shortage started after the motorized deep well pump in Barangay San Antonio was destroyed in January 2011.
The project is implemented by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). The workers estimated the pipe-connection-job to last 30 to 45 days. (TCB/NGA/PIA 2)
