East Visayas DOT transfers to a permanent office

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Jan. 22 (PIA) -- After the tedious transferring from one location to another, at least three times, the DOT Region 8 has finally found its permanent home.

“The Department of Tourism in Eastern Visayas has transferred to its permanent office,” Regional Director Karina Rosa Tiopes said.

The first location of the DOT-8 was at the Children’s Park along Senator Enage Street. After some years, it transferred to the Leyte Park Hotel Compound and later at the rented building along Santo Nino Street.

Since January 2012, the DOT in the region has been holding office at the newly constructed DOT Building at Barangay 25, Kanhuraw Hill, Tacloban City, overlooking Cancabato Bay.

The DOT clients are advised to use the entrance of the DILG Regional Office in going to the new DOT Building because the access road via Magsaysay Boulevard is yet to be improved by the Provincial Government.

Director Tiopes further informed that the DOT telephone lines have not yet been connected, thus, the temporary contact number is cellphone number +639166184280.

Interested parties may also send an e-mail to the DOT Region 8 to the e-mail address, Director Tiopes added.

She called on the clients to bear with the temporary inconvenience. She gave the assurance that DOT is doing all it could to fast track the installation of its communication facilities.

Director Tiopes informed that the DOT Building is situated in a land owned by the Provincial Government of Leyte. The building was constructed using DOT funds, Director Tiopes said.
