PIA Press Release Sunday, January 22, 2012 NMP gears up for change of commandTACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, Jan. 22 (PIA) -- The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), the only government maritime training center in the Philippines, is currently in the middle of preparations for the upcoming change of leadership.Ms. Grace Marie T. Ayaso, the chairman of the Turn-Over Ceremony Committee informed that a turn-over ceremony is scheduled to be conducted on Jan. 27, 2pm at Rm. 109 Maritime Training Building, NMP Cabalawan in Tacloban City. This is in consonance with DOLE Administrative Order No. 518 dated Dec. 20, 2011, designating Atty. Forter Puguon as the incoming officer-in-charge of the NMP replacing Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez who will assume another post at the DOLE Central Office in Manila. Atty. Puguon is not new to Eastern Visayas and the NMP as he is the current regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment here for about eight years already. The NMP is an attached agency of DOLE. Instead of accepting other juicy assignments¸ Director Puguon opted to accept the new position at NMP so as not to uproot his children who are all enrolled in Tacloban. Ms. Ayaso said that the turn-over ceremony will start with an invocation which will be led by Rev. Father Virgilio Murillo, priest-in-charge of the Virgen dela Candelaria Mission Station. For his last official act as NMP OIC Executive Director, Atty. Jimenez will confer special awards to deserving personalities, with Ms. Eufemia M. Balangbang, head of the HRM Section, assisting. Atty. Jimenez will then deliver his message using a video presentation on the performance highlights of the NMP in 2011. After the turn-over of the symbolic key and the NMP flag, acceptance speeches will be delivered by incoming OIC Deputy Executive Director Presca Lee B. Lugo and incoming OIC Executive Director Atty. Forter Puguon Sr. The words of challenge will be given by Atty. David Cabanag, Jr., Regional Director of the Civil Service Commission in Eastern Visayas. (PIA 8) |
