Tagalog News: 150,000 mahihirap, natulungan ng JCS Medical Mission sa Ilocos Sur

VIGAN CITY, Jan. 22 (PIA) -- Mahigit na 150,000 na mga maralitang Ilokano mula sa probinsiya ng Ilocos Sur ang natulungan na ng JCS Medical Mission mula 2007 hanggang 2011.

Ito ang binigyang-diin ni Bokal Jeremias “Jerry” Singson, namumuno sa JCSMM at chairman ng Committee on Health sa Sangguniang Panlalawigan, sa naganap na “Kapihan iti Amianan” Media Forum sa Gabriela Silang General Hospital noong nakaraang Linggo.

“Maraming mga dukhang kababayan na nakakita na dahil sa libreng cataract operation. Nakangiti na ang mga ngongo na naoperahan ng cleft- palate. Naduguongan ang buhay ng mga kababayang may sakit sa bato o kidney at gall bladder,” saad ni Singson.

Naipatupad ang medical, dental at surgical mission sa mga kababayan sa iba’t-ibang bayan ng Ilocos Sur kung saan napagkalooban ng reading glass ang mga pasyenteng may katarata, mga libreng gamot, tungkod at wheel chair, sinabi ni Bokal Singson.

Layunin ng medical mission na matulungan ang mga mahihirap na kababayan lalo na ang mga naninirahan sa mga malalayo at depressed areas na di gaanong nararating ng programang pangkalusugan ng pamahalaan.

Nakikipagtulungan dito ang mga non-government organizations (NGO) sa bansa, pati ang mga nasa ibayong dagat, kabilang ang mga volunteer doctors at nurses, pati mga Fil-Am doctors sa United States, Canada at Europe. “Malaki na rin ang naitulong ng provincial government, Department of Health at Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office,” idinagdag ni Singson.

Nakipagtulungan pa ang Bokal sa mga kasapi ng Ilocos Surian’s Association of Hawaii, Santanian’s Association of Hawaii, Philippine Medical Association of Chicago USA na naglunsad ng medical mission noong Disyembre 2011 at Enero 2012 sa Ilocos Sur kung saan natulungan ang mahigit na 5,000 mahihirap na kababayan.

Nasabi pa ni Singson na paiigtingin ng provincial government ang kampanya na magpapamigay ng PhilHealth cards sa mga indigent sa Ilocos Sur at ang pagpapaunlad ng serbisyo medical sa mga district hospital. (JCR/BPP-PIA 1 Ilocos Sur).
