Nationwide E-Trike Design Contest onby Elsa S. Subong
ILOILO CITY, Jan. 23 (PIA) –- A nationwide contest on E-Trike Design to promote use of Electric Tricycles is on, with the Department of Energy (DoE) urging qualified Filipinos to join.
The DoE said that the contest is open to all Filipino citizens, 18 years old and above, whether individual or groups residing in the Philippines.
Bannered by the theme, “Bright Now! Do Right. Be Bright. Go E-Trike!” the contest aims to showcase modern tricycle innovations, for a more environmental friendly transport in the country.
Based on the Contest Primer, the basic design parameters, the design should show a three-wheeled electric vehicle, just like the example that can be viewed at the DoE website www.doe.gov.ph, some of which are deployed in some local government units.
The DoE, however, said that all designs submitted should be original, new and have not been used for commercial or demonstration purposes.
The design should also show a maximum of six passengers, excluding the driver.
As to mechanics, the eligible contestant must fill up the Official Registration Form, which can be downloaded at DoE website and that of the Philippine Information Agency (www.pia.gov.ph).
A participant should produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings of the E-trike design using AutoCAD software with corresponding design description.
Entries should be submitted in both CD and hardcopy (A3 size) and enclosed in a sealed envelope, which can be submitted personally or sent by courier accompanied by completely filled-up Registration Form and duly notarized Oath of Ownership of the design, on or before 4pm of February 17, to: Nationwide E-Trike Design Contest, c/o Energy Utilization Management Bureau, Department of Energy, Merritt Road, /fort Bonifacio, Taguig City 1631.
The entries will be judged according to these criteria: Aesthetics/Creativity-50%; Originality/Innovation-20%; Safety and Functionality (LTO to provide simplified safety checklist)-20%; and, Ergonomics (Ease of passenger entry, space, etc.)-10%.
The final judging will be on February 24, where the top ten winners will be shortlisted and notified.
The top three winners will become the exclusive property of DoE and may be used, copied, reproduced and or printed into any size or medium for exhibition, advertising, promotion or any other purpose.
The top three will each receive P200,000 and the seven consolation prizes will receive P50,000 each. (JCM/ESS/PIA-Iloilo)
