DOST IV-A brings science works traveling exhibition in Rizal
LOS BANOS, Laguna, Jan 23 (PIA) -- The Department of Science and Technology (DoST) IV-A, in cooperation with the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology (PFST), and the Department of Education Rizal, will bring to the municipalities of Rizal province the Science Works, Philippine Science Centrum Traveling Exhibition from January to February 2012.
Science Works will visit the municipality of Rodriguez from January 18 until the 3rd of February with the exhibits to be shown next in the municipality of Cainta from February 6 to 29.
With the support of Mayor Cecilio O. Hernandez of Rodriguez, Rizal, the mobile exhibition will replicate the excitement and wonders of science in life size modules that are interactive and novel in forms, colors, and shapes.
Science Works will be on display at the San Jose Elementary School in Rodriguez, and in Cainta Elementary School for a fee of P50 per student/visitor.
The traveling exhibition offers a selection of interactive hands-on exhibits intended to promote a better grasp of science and technology concepts. Dir. May Pagsinohin of PFST, together with S&T Director Fernando E. Ablaza and Nina S. Giron of DOST-PSTC in Rizal, and Myrna A. Servanez and Zoraida B. Dazo of DST-IV-A as coordinators, are leading trained staffs in the presentation of a dynamic and entertaining way of teaching and learning science. Through these exhibits, visitors' young and old alike will be enriched in a unique way.
Planned as a year-round public offering, Science Works and DOST IV-A are still considering which site to visit next. This year's opener will run for more than a month. As in past years, the exhibits are open to students, researchers, educators, and local businessmen.
Science Works, formerly known as the Traveling Science Centrum, first visited Region IV from June to July 1998 in Dr. Campos University in Dasmarinas, Cavite City.
From 2000 to 2005, the science centrum toured the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Quezon and Palawan ten times. From 2006 to 2011 it toured Laguna, Batangas, Quezon and Rizal in Region IV-A, and Marinduque, Romblon, and Oriental Mindoro in Region IV-B. (AMGuevarra, DOST IV-A S&T Media Service/NDS, PIA-4A)
