Buntis Congress advocates birth plan for mothersby Ninfa B. Quirante
CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar, Jan. 24 (PIA) -- An assembly for pregnant women will advocate for mothers to have a birth plan.
According to Villareal Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Rae Roche Buna, 100 pregnant women will participate in the “Safe Motherhood Buntis (Pregnant) Congress” on Jan. 25 at the Municipal Covered Court of Villareal in Samar.
The campaign, according to Buna, aims to educate women about the importance of having four pre-natal check-ups, a birth plan and the presence of danger signs for proper referral.
“We are also encouraging couples to achieve their dreams for quality of life through proper birth spacing of at least three to five years,” Buna said.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), local government of Villareal and the Rural Health Unit are all pushing for this congress to reach out to a big number of pregnant women who may not have any birth plan at all.
The program on safe motherhood and family planning still continues according to USAID. (PIA 8-Samar)
