BicarmeCABARROGUIS, Quirino, Jan. 24 (PIA) -- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in region 2 is urging Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their legal beneficiaries to enroll in the Microsoft Tulay program, a special project in partnership with Microsoft Corporation which provides information and communication technology training to OFWs and their families to broaden their career opportunities. Nestle Baccay, OWWA-based Information Technology instructor, said only a few OFWs and their relatives are enrolled in the program that is why OWWA is doing everything to motivate them to avail of the program. Baccay said the program is open for students who want to learn basic computer applications such as MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel, video editing as well as using the Internet. Baccay said this will enable the OFWs and their families to communicate through the Internet. The project also aims to address the primary issue of family disintegration. “Through the project, problems arising from OFWs’ prolonged separation from their families will be prevented,” Baccay added.
