HerreraSAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Jan. 24 (PIA) -- The implementation of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P) will be expanded in Region 1 to include 93,584 potential household beneficiaries. Pangasinan has 60,207 potential beneficiaries from the 20 areas, according to Allan Lulu, information officer of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the region. These include Alaminos City, Bayambang, Bugallon, Dasol, Infanta, Laoac, Natividad, San Carlos City, San Fabian, San Jacinto, San Manuel, San Quintin, Sison and Urdaneta City together with existing areas in Burgos, Anda, Sual Malasiqui, Mangatarem and San Nicolas. For La Union, a total of 9,914 beneficiaries from the municipalities of Aringay, Bangar, Luna, Pugo, Sudipen and San Fernando City will be covered by the program. Ilocos Sur will include 9,874 households particularly from the municipalities of Banayoyo, Burgos, City of Candon and Vigan, Galimuyod, Gregorio del Pilar, Lidlidda, Magsingal, Quirino, Salcedo, San Juan and Sta. Cruz. In Ilocos Norte, about 13,589 beneficiaries from the towns of Bacarra, Badoc, Banna, Burgos, Dingras, Dumalneg, Laoag City, Pagudpud, Paoay, Pasuquin, Piddig, Sarrat, Solsona and Vintar are expected to be included. Beneficiaries were chosen based on various criteria such as presence of Indigenous People in the area. This was based on a list provided by the National Commission on Indigenous People. Also included were cities and municipalities under Set 3 with remaining eligible households and with poverty incidence equal to or above 30. 51 percent based on 2003 Small Area Estimates published by National Statistical Coordination Board; and municipalities with poverty incidence equal or above 30. 51 percent not covered under Set 1, 2 and 4.
