Electric coop seeks public's understanding for power failureBORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar, Jan 24 (PIA) -- Eastern Samar Electric Cooperative (ESAMELCO) today sought the public’s understanding for the inconvenience brought about by the extended power interruption.
ESAMELCO information officer Danny Azura explained on air over Radyo ng Bayan DYES that the brownout the whole day of Monday, January 23 which extended towards noon of the 24th, was due to the continuing pole rehabilitation work of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
Told about the possible loses of some business establishments due to unstable power service, Azura expressed the same concern.
“ESAMELCO loses the same cost. In the latest 28 hours brownout, the cooperative have approximately lost P2 million,” Azura said. “But we cannot do otherwise, because it is the job of the NGCP to rehabilitate the entire electric posts in the province,” he added. “And this means power interruptions, scheduled or otherwise which will have to extend in months. But let us be patient because this is for the benefit of all power consumers in the province, ” he concluded.
NGCP has been conducting rehabilitation of ESAMELCO electric posts since April 2011.
For 2012 and onwards, ESAMELCO hopes to realize funds for their Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) for a more dependable electric service. (PIA 8-Eastern Samar)
