Tagalog News: PNoy, pinangunahan ang groundbreaking ng $50M na aviation academy sa Clark

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Enero 25 (PIA) -- Pinangunahan kahapon ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino, III ang groundbreaking ng 50 milyong dolyar na Philippine Academy for Aviation Training (PAAT) sa loob ng Clark Freeport.

Sa kanyang talumpati, binati ng Pangulo ang Cebu Pacific Air at Canadian firm na CAE (dating Canadian Aviation Electronics) sapagkat ang kanilang pamumuhunang ito ay katibayan ng kumpyansa sa talento at potensyal ng mga Pilipino na mapabilang sa mga pinakamagagaling na piloto sa buong mundo.

Sinabi pa ng Punong Ehekutibo na ang pagtatayo ng nasabing akademya ay nataon sa panahon na nagpapatupad ng mga reporma ang kanyang administrasyon sa aviation industry upang pumantay ito sa global standards.

Sa ngayon aniya ay sinisikap ng Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines na muling makuha ang category 1 status ng United States Federal Aviation Administration upang manumbalik ang kumpyansa ng ilang dayuhan sa kaligtasan ng ating mga lokal na airlines.

Target din ng pamahalaan ang i-liberalize pa ang aviation industry pagkat ang mga liberalization programs noong nakaraang taon, gaya ng Pocket Open Skies Policy, ay nagtala ng mga malalaking paglago sa domestic at international air traffic na siyang nagdulot ng positibong resulta sa sektor ng turismo.

Ang PAAT, na nakatakdang magbukas sa ikatlong bahagi ng 2012, ay inisyal na nakalaan sa Airbus A319/320/321 series pilot type-rating training requirements at sa pagbibigay ng “wet” instructor-led type-rating training para sa kasalukuyan at bagong piloto ng Cebu Pacific.

May initial, recurrent, conversion at jet indoctrination training din ito para sa ibang lokal at banyagang Airbus operators.

Ang state-of-the-art na aviation school ay idedebelop sa pakikipagtulungan sa training facilities design team ng CAE. Ito ay pansimulang dalawang Airbus A320 Full Flight Simulators (FFSs) at inaasahang madadagdagan ng dalawa pa sa loob ng anim na taon.

Bukod sa mga piloto, sasanayin din sa hinaharap ng akademya ang iba pang aviation workers tulad ng cabin crew at ground handling personnel. (WLB/CLJD/PIA-3)
