Aviation training center makes Clark an international gatewayCLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Pampanga, Jan. 25 (PIA) -- The establishment of an aviation facility here will pave the way for the realization of the Kapampangans' and Tarlaqueños’ dream to bring the country's premier international gateway to Central Luzon.
The new aviation facility to be put up in Clark, which will be called Philippine Academy for Aviation Training, Inc. (PAAT), according to Clark Development Corporation (CDC) president Atty. Felipe Antonio Remollo, “...is a combination of two giant companies namely Cebu Pacific Inc., (CEB) and Canadian firm CAE and is a longtime dream of Central Luzon that will make Clark as international gateway.”
Cebu Pacific is currently the country's largest national flag carrier, while CAE (formerly Canadian Aviation Electronics) is a world leader in aviation training.
Remollo expressed optimism on the establishment of the PAAT, saying that "this progress will create more chances to both local and foreign companies to invest here."
Remollo added that “PAAT will increase the tourism here and also promote Clark as a tourism destination in the country. And when you talk of investment, and when you talk of business, it’s more fun to invest in Clark.”
PAAT is the first CAE aviation training center in the country which brings a world-class training facility in the region. This center will be pivotal to meeting the training requirements not only of CEB, but also the region’s pilot and flight training requirements in the next ten years or so.
PAAT represents an approximate $50 million joint investment. The facility will initially cater to Airbus A319/320/321 series pilot type-rating training requirement and will provide “wet” instructor-led type-rating training for CEB’s current and new-hire pilots.
The training center will initially be equipped with two Airbus A320 full flight simulators (FFSs) with capability to expand by two additional simulators. Training is expected to be added for other aviation personnel in the future such as cabin crew, dispatch, ground handling personnel and cadets. (WLB/JGB/ PIA-3)
