MendozaPUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan, Jan. 25 (PIA) -- Another feather to the cap of local tourism is the recent award received by Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort when it recently bagged the 2012 ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Award at Manado, Indonesia. The ASEAN Green Hotel Award is an accolade ceremony given every two years by ASEAN Member States in appreciation of hotels in the region which achieved sustainable tourism through environment- friendly tourism products and actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Daluyon Resort is located along Sabang beach approximately 75 km northwest of the center of Puerto Princesa City. It is just a kilometer away from the famous Puerto Princesa Underground River, one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Daluyon Resort is one of the frontier group members of the Zero Carbon Resorts project of the European Union’s SWITCH Asia program promoting the switch from fossil fuel to the use of renewable energy in companies in the tourism industry. The criteria for the award covers criteria such as environmental policy and activities for hotel operation, use of green products, collaboration with the communities, solid waste management, water and energy efficiency, air quality management, noise pollution control and waste water management. Mandala Spa and Resort Villas in Boracay also received the same recognition.
