PIA Press Release Thursday, January 19, 2012 Nueva Vizcaya gets awards for efficient tax collectionby Ben Moses Ebreo BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, January 19 (PIA) -- This province recently received three awards from the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) in Cagayan Valley for its high local revenue collection efficiency in 2010. The awards were Top Revenue Collector for having attained 137.65 percent highest collection efficiency region-wide under the provincial category representing aggregate collections on real property tax, business tax, fees and charges and economic enterprises; Top Local Revenue Collector on Fees and Charges for attaining the highest collection efficiency of 103 percent regionwide under the provincial category; and Top Local Revenue Collector On Real Property Tax for earning the highest collection efficiency of 198.89 percent regionwide. The recent award on Top Local Revenue Collector on Real Property Tax catapulted the province into the hall of fame rank, having been adjudged with the similar feat for 8 consecutive years, according to Rhoda Moreno, in-charge of office of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office (PTO). Nueva Vizcaya got the exemplary performance awards in the collection of local revenues for Calendar Year 2010 last month in Tuguegarao City during the 4th Quarter Conference of Provincial/City and Municipal Treasurers of region 02. “This honor has been attained because of the good rapport between the legislative and the executive departments, thereby resulting into the crafting and implementation of legislative and executive support in terms of policies and actions especially on erring real property tax payers,” Moreno said. She also attributed their excellent tax collection on the full support of Governor Luisa Cuaresma who persisted in collecting other potential taxes for the province by seeking legislative support to sustain the enforcement of administrative remedies against erring real property tax payers in the province. Moreno also added that continuing improvements made for the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Hospital (NVPH) and other district hospitals in the province also contributed substantial taxes through the collection of fees and charges. “The receptiveness of our political leaders is what made us exceptional from other provinces including our good good rapport with other allied departments like the Assessors Office, Provincial Engineering Office and the Provincial Legal Office, among others,” Moreno said. The other awards were Top Collector for Business Tax for Isabela province with collection efficiency of 113.75 percent; Nueva Vizcaya with 100.95 percent while the province of Batanes got the Top Collector for Receipts from Economic Enterprises with 116.80 percent. Nueva Vizcaya ranked second with 105 percent collection efficiency. (TCB/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya) |
