MDRRC endorses rehab of farm to market roadby Mhars B. Lihgawon
LAGAWE, Ifugao Jan. 25 (PIA) -- The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) here has requested last week the provincial government to fund the rehabilitation of a damaged farm to market road (FMR).
In a resolution addressed to Governor Eugene Balitang, the MDRRMC asked the provincial government to provide fund for the rehabilitation of the Boliwong – Jucbong farm to market road in the amount of P1.5 million. This FMR was greatly affected during the onslaught typhoon Pedring last year, which left millions of damages in infrastructure in the province.
The MDRRMC pointed out that the said road is the only gateway of agricultural products of barangay Jucbong and some sitios of barangay Montabiong from their residence to the town center.
“The transportation of products in these two barangays to market is very hard especially during rainy season due to the narrow and bumpy conditions of the roads that affects the economic condition of the people,” the members explained.
They also reiterated that the rehabilitation of the access road will fast track the marketing system of the concerned barangays that could minimize losses and waste of farmers’ products.
Mayor Ceasario Cabbigat earlier stated that the rehabilitation of the Boliwong – Jucbong FMR is one of the priority projects, however, it was put on hold for the meantime due to the meager funds of the municipal government. (JDP/MBL – PIA CAR,Ifugao)
