DUMAGUETE CITY, Jan. 25 (PIA) -- Local government leaders in Negros Oriental are set to discuss issues on disaster management and climate change during a two-day seminar workshop on February 8 to 9, 2012 in Dumaguete City.
The workshop dubbed “Coping with Climate Change and Mitigating Disaster: Predictive Agenda Setting ug pagadumalahon sa South East Asia Institute of strategic Studies kon (SEAISS)” is spearheaded by the NegOr provincial government.
The workshop aims to beef up the disaster preparedness of local government units against all forms of calamity, said Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo.
Sedillo also works with the operations section of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).
“This activity will teach our local leaders how to craft a comprehensive disaster management plan so they will be ready to respond to any calamity,” said Sedillo.
Discussions during the workshop will also cover climate change which environmental experts have blamed for the increasing erratic weather conditions felt worldwide.
Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo has already formally invited the mayors in the province to attend the workshop. (mbcn/RMN/PIA-Negros Oriental)
