PPOC approves P50-million budget for peace and orderBy Easter Anne D. Doza
NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Jan. 25 (PIA6) -- The Provincial Peace and Order Council during its first regular meeting for the year has approved a P50-million peace and order budget for 2012.
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo G. Marañon Jr, who also chairs the Council, was also given the authority to prioritize projects for implementation.
Provincial Planning and Development Officer (PPDO) Ma. Lina Sanogal said that of the P50-million, P10-million will be used to fund projects accompanied by detailed proposals to the local government.
Marañon urged members to strive hard to improve peace and order situation in the province to usher in progress.
“The economic activities and its momentum can only be maintained if there is continued peace,” Marañon said.
The governor congratulated both the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police for the good performance in 2011 and in the first month of the year for having no violent encounters with the rebels.
