Iloilo City to reroute traffic for Chinese New Year Parade

ILOILO CITY, Jan. 25 (PIA6) -- Traffic will be re-routed anew in this city on Friday, January 27, 2012, just four days after the Dinagyang Festival. This time it will be for the Grand Parade and Food Festival in line with the Chinese New Year celebration.

According to the traffic re-routing plan issued by the Iloilo City Transportation Management and Traffic Regulation Office, the grand parade which will start at 3 p.m. The parade will start at Bonifacio Drive in front of the Department of Tourism and will pass F. Caram Avenue, JM Basa St., Aldeguer St., Iznart St. up to Plazoleta Gay.

In line with this, starting 2 p.m. on Friday the following streets will be temporarily closed during the parade: from Muelle Loney to corner F. Caram Avenue; portion of General Luna Street – from Muelle Loney to Arroyo Fountain Street; from Muelle Loney to corner JM Basa Street.; from corner Valeria to corner F. Caram Avenue; portion of JD Deleon-from corner Valeria to corner Iznart.; portion of Ledesma-from corner Valeria to corner Iznart.; portion of Muelle Loney from corner Foot Quirino Bridge to corner Drilon Bridge/ Rizal Lapuz; portion of Joveller from corner Muelle Loney to corner Bonifacio Drive; and portion of Rizal Lapuz- from corner Muelle Loney to corner Rizal Lapuz (Rizal Statue).

No public utility jeepneys shall be allowed to enter the following streets: General Luna Street - from corner Quezon to Arroyo Fountain; Luna Lapaz- from corner Huervana to Bonifacio Drive, City Proper; Ledesma – from Valeria to corner Iznart; and Iznart Street- from corner Rizal/Ma. Clara to corner Aldeguer.

The TMTRO added that all trucks and trailers from Port San Pedro Drive, Lapuz and Loboc areas, Molo Area and Infante Avenue shall be not allowed to enter the City Proper Area during the parade.

However, private vehicles can enter the City Proper area except on the streets where the parade is being held and on streets declared no entry to all types of vehicles.

Meanwhile the TMTRO said all Jaro CPU/Jaro Liko/ NFA/Tagbal/Ungka PUJs coming from Jaro Area shall pass E. Lopez towards Luna/Gaisano City turn left to Huervana and turn right to Rizal Lapaz turn right to Drilon Bridge going to Muelle Loney and Load/Unload their passengers at the back of Provincial Capitol and in going back, shall turn left to Quirino Bridge turn left to Rizal straight to Luna and pass to their normal route to their place of origin.

On the other hand, all Lapaz PUJs coming from Huervana Street turn left at Rizal Street, Lapaz turn right Drilon Bridge to Muelle Loney up to the back of Provincial Capitol where they can load and unload their passengers and in going back, shall turn left at Quirino Bridge turn left Rizal Lapuz up to Rizal Lapaz and turn right to Huervana and pass their normal and usual route towards their place of origin.

The Bo. Obrero and Lapuz PUJs coming from Jalandoni Lapuz shall turn right Rizal Lapuz up to Rizal, Lapaz turn left to Drilon Bridge to Muelle Loney up to the back of Provincial Capitol where they can Load/Unload their passengers. And in going back shall turn left at Quirino Bridge turn right to Rizal, Lapuz and pass their normal and usual route and back to their place of origin.

TMTRO said all Baluarte Derecho/SM City High PUJs coming from the direction of General Luna shall turn right to Quezon Street turn left to Rizal Street (UI) towards Ortiz/JM Basa to Plaza Libertad and in going back shall turn right to Rizal, turn right to Valeri, turn left to Ledesma and pass their usual route to their place of origin.

All Baluarte/Calumpang PUJs coming from the direction of Lopez Jaena (Baluarte) in going to City Proper shall pass Ledesma turn right to Quezon Street turn left to Rizal Street (UI) towards Ortiz/JM Basa to Plaza Libertad and in going back shall, turn right to Rizal turn right to Valeria, turn left to Ledesma and pass their normal/ usual route to their place of origin.

Meanwhile, Timawa PUJs coming from the direction of Timawa Avenue in going to City Proper shall pass Delgado, turn right Jalandoni, turn left Ledesma turn right to Quezon Street turn left to Rizal Street (UI) towards Ortiz/JM Basa to Plaza Libertad and in going back shall, turn right to Rizal, turn right to Valeria, turn left to Ledesma and pass their normal/ usual route to their place of origin.

All Villa/Parola/ITGSI via Diversion PUJs shall pass to their normal and usual route in going in and out of City Proper while Mandurriao PUJs coming from the direction of General Luna in going to city Proper shall turn right to Jalandoni, turn left to Ledesma, turn right to Quezon, turn left to Rizal and in going back, shall turn left to Valeria and pass their normal/ usual route back to their point of origin.
