PIA Press Release Thursday, January 26, 2012 BFAR launches school on the air for fisherfolksby Oliver BaccayAPARRI, Cagayan, Jan. 26 (PIA) -- To educate fisherfolks on the technologies of fish farming, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) region 2 has launched fisheries school on the air program and enrolled some 220 fisherfolks from this town and Buguey. Regional Director Jovita P. Ayson said the school on the air is a free educational program where fisheries technologies and other fisheries-related topics are disseminated to the general public, particularly the fisherfolk, through the radio. Families with fishponds and those that are engage in fishing in the coastal areas are the targeted beneficiaries of the program. After the school on the air, BFAR will also assist the participants to establish their livelihood to augment their income and help boost mass production of fishery in the region. BFAR has also distributed transistor radio sets to the participants. The radio program will aired over MBC-Radyo Natin, Aparri station. The program is expected to run from February to March.
