Manila archdiocese’s painting contest ‘til January 27MANILA, January 26 (PIA) -- The Archdiocese of Manila is calling all young Filipino artists for a chance to showcase their talent and passion for arts at the Manila Archdiocese 5th annual painting competition.
The contest is open to all Filipino students and out-of-school youths, ages 15 to 25 years old.
According to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the theme for this year’s competition is “The Rosary, its Mysteries and the Filipino Family.”
Organized by the archdiocese’s Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church, the contest aims to foster contemporary artistic interpretations of the Catholic faith among young artists at the same time, promote awareness and appreciation of religious art.
Deadline of submission of artwork entries is on January 27, 2012, Friday at the Museo ng Arkidiyosesis ng Maynila in Intramuros, Manila.
The first prize-winner will have a chance to take home P40,000. The second placer will receive P30,000 and the third place winner will receive P20,000.
Meanwhile, three “Juror’s Choices” will also receive P10,000 each.
Awarding of winners will be held on February 4, 2012.
