The school building was donated by the SN Aboitiz Power-Magat, Inc. (SNAP-Magat), a joint venture between SN Power of Norway and Aboitiz Power. The firm owns and operates the 360-megawatt Magat hydroelectric power plant located at the border of Isabela and Ifugao. SNAP-Magat Site Manager Assistant Vice President Wilhelmino R. Ferrer said the school building will benefit 40 Grade 5 and Grade 6 pupils of the school who used to have their classes at the community center due to lack of classroom facilities. “This will somehow ease their burden and provide a comfortable educational [venue] for displaced elementary pupils,” he said. Board member Manuel Alejandro who represented Isabela Governor Faustino Dy III welcomed SNAP-Magat’s presence in their province. Officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) said the children do not have to move anymore from one place to another just to attend their classes. They added that they will ensure that the building with a wash area and toilets, will be maintained so that it will be utilized by children of the next generation. The project is being implemented under SNAP-Magat’s Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) Program, with the endorsement of the provincial government of Isabela. (TCB/BMEPIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya) |
