DAPA, Surigao del Norte, Jan. 27 (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways-Siargao District Engineering Office (DPWH-SDEO) is pushing the completion of the 5.29-kilometer Osmeña-Dapa Flood Control project in Dapa, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte this year as part of the government’s effort to address flood prevention and disaster mitigation in the district.
In a statement, Assistant District Engineer Rodulfo A. Libay said that “the government has already allotted P15 million for the completion of the facility.”
DPWH has to construct the remaining 1.25-kilometer length of flood control to complete the project.
“Not only the travelling public, residents of Barangays Osmeña and Consuleo will benefit this project but also the national agency offices like the NFA, new TESDA-Siargao Livelihood Training Center, LTO, and DepEd,” said Libay.
The project is aimed to prevent flooding during heavy rains along kilometer 2-7 in Dapa-General Luna road and the villages nearby. (DPWH-Siargao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
