Ozamiz CSWD’s cash for training,cash for work program reach P5.62-M in 2011OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental, Jan. 28 (PIA) -- A total of Php5.62 million in rice subsidy was released for the Cash for Training/Cash for Work Program of 1,879 farmers/ fisherfolk beneficiaries in the city, last year.
Of this amount, Php2.29 million or 40.75 percent was spent for the rice subsidy of 702 farmers who attended the first batch of a 4-day training on farming skills and on Disaster Management and other relevant topics, Ludie Salud A. Raras, City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Officer, said.
Under the Rice Subsidy Program of CSWD, participants of the training were paid the minimum daily wage of Php257 for them to buy rice for the duration of the 4-day training, plus seven (7) days of “pahina” when they went back to their respective barangays.
The “pahina” involved community activities like dredging, cleaning and widening of clogged canals, tree planting and installation of communal vegetable gardens, among others.
Likewise, Php3.33 million or 59.25 percent of the amount was spent for the rice subsidy of a total of 1,177 farmers and fisherfolk who attended the second batch of the same kind of training for four (4) days, after which, they also went on a 7-day pahina in their respective barangays.(PIA-10 Mis.
