Catholic Church urges families to read the BibleTUGUEGARAO CITY, Jan. 28 (PIA) – The archdiocese of Tuguegarao has encouraged families to spend time to read the bible and meditate the word of God everyday as it is the best foundation towards spiritual growth.
Monsignor Gerard Ariston Perez, parish priest of St. Peter Cathedral, said he observed that very few families spend time to read the word of God now a days, and only few individuals know the content of the bible.
Msgr. Perez said each family should acquire a bible and enthrone it in their homes, and spend few minutes to read some verses or chapters to be able to understand and live the orders of God which are necessary to live righteously.
“Word of God is the foundation of each family and the community to live happily and peacefully. It does not feed only our spiritual needs but also our intellectual capabilities because we can control ourselves in doing unholy things when we meditate and reflect with the words of God,” Msgr. Perez stated.
The priest also stated that the archdiocese is now tapping catholic religious groups to conduct community bible sharing to reach out families in the barangays and bring the word of God to them.
He also stated that they are about to organize barangay pastoral councils to help them reach out families in the barangays to enrich their spiritual growths. (TCB/OTB/PIA-2)
