Tanudan migrant workers group to hold medical mission in home town

By Peter A. Balocnit

TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Jan. 29 (PIA) -- The iTanudan Progressive Group, group of overseas Filipino workers (OFW), will conduct a medical mission in April 27-29 this year in coordination with the Municipal Health Office. The members of the global social network group are OFWs who hail from Tanudan.

The group's objective is to unite for the common good of their communities in Tanudan and evolved from exchanging of thoughts and ideas and discussion of local issues through the Facebook.

Fr. Gabriel Ballawig from Lubo, Tanudan and based in Sydney, Australia formed the Susunod iTanudan (Tanudan Brotherhood) convenor group that hatched and advanced the objectives of the group and spread it out to Tanudan OFWs. “Eventually, that led to the formation of the iTanudan Progressive Group as its umbrella organization,” he stated in his facebook post.

Planning and coordinating through the cyberspace, the group planned the activity to help the people they left home knowing that the place is really in need of medical assistance. A considerable amount was already contributed by OFWs with donations solicited from donors abroad. Many OFWs from Tanudan have also pledged to give cash assistance and equipments. Some also committed food to feed the people during the three-day outreach activity.

Cris Gayagay, Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer based in Tabuk said they are preparing the activity in partnership with the MHO and private medical missions. He said Doctors Rhoda Bravo and Leslie Gladys Dalanao Yupio ,who are members of the group, are assisting the group for this medical mission. (PAB/PIA-CAR/Kalinga)
